You might be a mom if.......

So I totally had one of those "you might be a mom if......" moments. It's also categorized as one of those "didn't picture myself doing this after becoming a mom" moments. The sad thing is that this story doesn't even involve my kids except the fact that I was trying to finish what I was doing before starting the bedtime ritual. Come on, seriously; it takes FOREVER to get these monkies to bed! And if I didn't finish my project before we started, it wasn't likely to happen that night at all.

There I was using a super sharp Cutco knife to do something that shouldn't even be done with a knife in the first place. I origionally started loading the dish washer & came across a secondary project. Ya know, a project withing a project thing that always makes me end up half finished with a zillion different things and completely finished with absolutely NONE of them. Anyway, since I was hanging over a kitchen sink already the knife was very convenient. Well, with my rippling bicepts in action, I over did it & swoosh went the knife right into my hand.....ouch! So that project was put away for a bit. Well, you might be a mom if......you hold your bleeding hand over the sink & finish loading the dishwasher before going to get a bandage.

Now here's the "you might be an Ashby" part of the story. After I got it to mostly stop bleeding I tried to get a picture of it to show off. It was deep to the naked eye but my camera with a not-so-good zoom made it look like a woosy scratch. So sorry to disappoint, but there will be no images for your viewing satisfaction.

Fun, fun, fun!!

We've been really lucky this month to do a few fun things just as a family. We went to a monster truck/motocross show and Kade LOVED it!! You've gotta listen to the cheering we got recorded. Tovey and Kade got to ride in the back of one of the monster trucks too! Kade had a huge smile the whole time. In the video he's the one in the yellow shirt. Haley thought the whole thing was good; but nothing compares to wearing a princess costume and playing with her little ponies.

A couple weeks later we got to go to a Jazz Game because Tovey's boss couldn't go & offered them to us. Both of the kids were incredibly well behaved! They watched, cheered, danced around, and had lots of fun. We even let them eat icecream late at night to celebrate them being soooo good!! And besides that, the Jazz won:).

Last weekend we hooked the kids sleds up to the tractor and Tovey drove them around in our back field. It's been good for us to do things together and have fun. We usually are so busy going this way and that, we haven't been able to do enough things just the four of us.

Tuesday was Tovey's birthday. His brother, brother's wife & kids came over and we had fun eating and playing games. It was lots of fun:) I'll hafta do the math, but I can't remember how old we are anymore. Isn't that sad? I do remember that we're still in our 20's. His birthday started the official 7 day count down until he gets his cast off. Woohoo! No one is more excited that he is though.

I know this a bit of a travel log, but it's the only journal I keep so I wanted to share some fun we've had together so we could remember later.

Am I or Am I Not?

I am nerdier than 43% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to take the Nerd Test, get geeky images and jokes, and talk on the nerd forum!

It's funny to think this test sais I'm nerdier than just less than half the people out there being as I thought ??HUH?? To like, half the questions. I think it's the questions about computer stuff that kept me out of the 'danger zone' of a most certain nerdiness. P.S. Thanks Tiff. I got the test off your blog. These things crack me up.

The Newest "Real Ashby" Member

No, we haven't had another baby. The newest member of the "real ashby" clan is.......believe it or not......Tovey!!! Last month I got a phone call from his brother. He tells me that Tovey broke his arm and that he was getting an ambulence ride off the mountain (from snow skiing) to the hospital. Yea right. They called me last year telling me the same thing only they weren't really going to the hospital and Tovey had only sprained his arm. So naturally I put my finger on the 'end call' button just in case I had to prematurely end the phone call. It took him a few minutes of persuading until I actually believed what he was saying.

So as it ends up, I met them in Salt Lake City (an hour and a half away) to find my husband with his arm in this chinese finger trap thing in the emergency room and a very pale arm that had not yet met it's doom aka: the process of re-setting the bone.

Thanks by-the-way to my sister-in-law who came and got my kids for the day! You're awsome!

Poor guy. The very first of the ski season and my hubby breaks his wrist. Doc says he's out for the season and that the soonest his wrist will be ready would be March..... To make matters worse, this was a Thursday and we got a great snow storm that following Monday....and several days since. He's feeling pretty bumbed about it. Fortunately, there were no other injuries and he was wearing his helmet so when he fell off the box rail he didn't crack his head too.

The reason that he's an official Ashby now is that this is his very first broken bone ever. Kind of a bitter sweet event; but he was the only one of this siblings that hasn't broken a bone. So now it's official: He is truely one of the "Crashby Ashby" clan. And he may have a future in the construction business as a flagger with his bright orange cast!

Side note: I considered wrapping myself in bubble wrap for the rest of the year because I'm the only one of our little family who hasn't had an emergency room visit this year......but I made it through without any mishaps.....just a broken nail.
